About

UAE is a software emulating the hardware of an Amiga 500
UAE is free software: you can distribute it freely.

How to use it

(aka Required thing to make it run )
You need a PowerMacintosh to run it (minimum is something like a 603ev@160mHz to make it run correctly).
You need a Kickstart ROM. Software to transfer this from your Amiga is now included in the distribution
( as well as documentation on how to use it )
You also need software to run on the emulator.
And you need CodeWarrior to recompile it.

UAE is emulating...

Thing that works for a long time, now :
There are some restrictions (as well):

Main UAE page
UAE is written for Unixish systems; it is developed on Unix machines but it has
been ported to a wide variety of machines and operating systems, including DOS,
Windows 95/NT, MacOS, RiscOS, BeOS and NextStep. So here is the Main page of the
UAE developpement.
Picaso 96 homepage.
UAE can emulate a Picasso 96 compatible graphics card. OS friendly software can
use this to display much better resolutions and color depths than the Amiga
custom chip set would allow. To use this feature, you need the Picasso 96
software which is available on the Picaso 96 home page.
Cloanto Software
Cloanto Software has licensed the Amiga operating system for distribution
together with Amiga emulations. They sell the Amiga Forever package containing
legally licensed ROM images and Workbench files as well as various versions of UAE.

Me, "just" maintening UAE...

Please note:

The Kickstart ROM is copyrighted by Amiga International and we may not
distribute it. However, if you don't have an old Amiga, you might purchase
Cloanto's "Amiga Forever" CDROM which contains some ROMs and lots of other
software like the Amiga System disks as ADF Files.
