Thanx
A special thanks to Marin Saric : msaric@tir.com
who makes a lot of interesting things in UAE , like

Speed improvement

Bug fix (in drawing)

FileSystem Emulation( Wow ! Great Job ! )
-
New Speed Limitation working correctly ( specially for G3 :-)
About
UAE is a software emulating the hardware of an Amiga 500
UAE is free software: you can distribute it freely.
How to use it
(aka Required thing to make it run )
You need a PowerMacintosh to run it (minimum is something like a 603ev@160mHz
to make it run correctly).
You need a Kickstart ROM. Software to transfer this from your Amiga
is now included in the distribution
( as well as documentation on how to use it )
You also need software to run on the emulator.
And you need CodeWarrior to recompile it.
UAE is emulating...
Thing that works for a long time, now :
-
A 68000, 68010 or 68020 CPU, optionally a 68881 FPU
-
OCS Graphics Chipset, plus big blits from the ECS Chipset
-
Up to 2MB Chip RAM and up to 8MB Fast RAM, or 8MB Chip RAM without Fast
RAM
-
Up to 64MB Zorro III Fast RAM, independent of Chip RAM setting (68020 only)
-
Up to 1MB Slow RAM, for extended compatibility with problem software
-
4 x 3.5" floppy disk drives (DF0:, DF1:, DF2: and DF3:).
It's not possible to read Amiga disks, so these are emulated with disk
files.
-
Joystick ( emulation support : mapped joystick to numeric keypad)
-
Mouse support
-
Ability to run in various screen modes
-
Full sound support, consisting of 4 x 8bit channels
-
A hard-disk: either a harddisk image file or part of the native filesystem
-
Up to 8MB of graphics card memory, usable by software that supports Picasso
96 compatible graphics cards.
There are some restrictions (as well):
-
serial port support (I got a workable version on my Hard Disk :-)
-
parallel port
-
stereo sound support
-
harddisk image file currently broken
-
Sprite to playfield collisions are unimplemented.

Main UAE page
UAE is written for Unixish systems; it is developed on Unix
machines but it has
been ported to a wide variety of machines and operating systems, including
DOS,
Windows 95/NT, MacOS, RiscOS, BeOS and NextStep. So here is the Main
page of the
UAE developpement.
Picaso
96 homepage.
UAE can emulate a Picasso 96 compatible graphics card. OS friendly
software can
use this to display much better resolutions and color depths than the
Amiga
custom chip set would allow. To use this feature, you need the Picasso
96
software which is available on the Picaso 96 home page.
Cloanto Software
Cloanto Software has licensed the Amiga operating system for
distribution
together with Amiga emulations. They sell the Amiga Forever package
containing
legally licensed ROM images and Workbench files as well as various
versions of UAE.

Me, "just" maintening UAE...
The Kickstart ROM is copyrighted by Amiga
International and we may not
distribute it. However, if you don't have an
old Amiga, you might purchase
Cloanto's "Amiga Forever" CDROM which contains
some ROMs and lots of other
software like the Amiga System disks as ADF Files.
